ever forgetting its roots, that are in the history of the Domus, the V.A.D. gives to the Congregation an effective
contribution to create a "Studies and Documentation Centre" that follow the indications of the Sinodo.
The main activities of the Studies Centre are:
- the constitution of a library that collects books, specialized magazine and publications
connected with Databases and supported with the use of computer science. The library is created in order to
constitute a documentary and informative point of reference for anyone who is interested in the problematic
of the cure of the oncologic sick people in advanced phase in the several medical, psychological, social,
human problems. A section is dedicated to the problems connected to the establish and the organization of a
hospice.
- the spreading of the culture of the hospice like place and means for the ideal cure of the oncologic sick
people in advanced phase; this field organizes conventions, discussion, initiatives, in order to diffuse the
problematic and to look for their solution, through an increase that, (sped up from a disseminated ideological and
environmental movement) promotes the necessary normative and political-administrative structures; the
objective is of remarkable relief if it is considered that every year in Italy die for cancer approximately
160,000 persons, while rare are the proposals of cure adequately structured.
